LisaLisa Higgott has been hairdressing for twenty three years after a childhood spent saving up to buy hair magazines and practicing techniques! She took her first job at a Manchester salon when she was just 14 years old. Despite enjoying a successful salon career, she always felt she had more to offer – particularly in the art of hair-up – and in 2008 was encouraged to enter a ghd photographic competition which she won, netting a £10,000 photoshoot which led to a BHA nomination for Midlands Hairdresser of the Year.
Shortly afterwards, after a gruelling two-day audition process, Lisa landed a job as part of the ghd art team and in the last seven years has evolved as an expert in her field with a glittering CV including working alongside many famous hairstylists, plus a huge number of industry education and stage appearances globally, TV shows such as Goks Fashion Fix, London Fashion Week, QVC (London & US), National Television Awards, British Soap Awards and a variety of photoshoots and TV ads.
Lisa was then promoted to ghd guest artist and was heading up courses including red carpet styling, ghd air masterclass, perfect pastiche and bridal courses for the styling super-brand. Now after years of traveling around the world she has decided to take a backseat and put her time and energy into her two salons and mentoring her team but is available for private training on request.
SimonSimon started hairdressing upon leaving school and is now in his 3rd decade of this ever changing profession. This has allowed him the opportunities of working on stage not only at the NEC but as far away as Houston Texas and Las Vegas. It has gave him the opportunity to form a salon with Lisa Higgott and develop not only his skills but also to guide their team in his ethos of client care and hairdressing skills. Simons numerous achievement’s credit him with achieving one of L’Oreal’s highest colour qualifications and the distinction of becoming a external and internal verifier in his trade to name but a few, his passion for cutting hair remains paramount and is often attending as many courses as he can albeit a few too many Golf Courses at times!!!
BethI’m Beth,I started at escape at 14 on my work experience and never left!I continued to work on a Saturday for a couple of years and then went on to do my nvq level 1 and 2 before qualifying 6/7 years ago.In 2012 I became part of the GHD style squad which involved advanced training, working at places like salon international and pro hair live and also at London fashion week!
With GHD and Lisa I also travelled the county and Ireland assisting on seminars to other stylists. Through working at escape I have had fantastic opportunities being involved with assisting in photoshoots and the British soap awards! Since being a Loreal salon I have been on 2 advanced colour courses training in freehand, balayage and many other colour techniques. Along with Rochelle we entered the Loreal colour trophy and got through to Midlands. My passions and strengths within hairdressing I would say are long hair, foiling and hair extensions.
RochelleHi I’m Rochelle and I’m a Senior stylist at escape.
I started my career joining Escape’s hair team at a ripe age of 15, achieving levels 1 and 2 at Burton college within an unprecedented 1 year of studying, winning numerous competitions and awards.
During the early years of hairdressing through winning a colour competition, I was selected to be a member of the Clynol protégé team working alongside well known hair stylists gaining from their experience.
Throughout my 14 years of hairdressing i have been lucky enough to have experienced working on TV shows, photographic shoots and catwalk shows where I have built my artistic skills. From this I have been chosen to style celebrity hair for the Soap Awards and Inside Soap Awards year after year. Also travelling around the country and Ireland helping to teach other stylists through ghd seminars and large stage shows like salon international and pro hair live.
My most recent achievement this year was becoming a regional finalist for the Loreal colour trophy alongside Beth which was such an honour for us both.
My main passion is to push the boundaries creating beautiful, fashionable hair in both ladies and gentlemen styling which has enabled me to become a successful stylist with an incredibly busy column.
Hi, I'm Taleah Hyland.
I began my hairdressing journey at escape as a Saturday girl and then went on to become an apprentice when I left school. Since then I have had the honour of participating in the Worlds Skills competition where I reached the regional finals. From achieving this I found my confidence and was inspired by many of my fellow competitors.
In July 2016 I was also awarded "Apprentice of the year" for the whole of Burton and South Derbyshire area which was a huge achievement for me and proved my hard work hadn't gone unnoticed.
I have recently attained a level 2 qualification and will be proceeding onto level 3. I love working closely with my team where I am able to see transformations of the clients which is a daily reminder of why I love my job.
I'm looking forward to extending my knowledge and experience through many extra courses I have lined up over the next year.
GeorgieMy name is Georgie Boothman.
I am a stylist at Escape hair design and moda, our sister salon in Tutbury. I have been at escape for 6 years now, I first entered into the hair dressing world at 15 when I came to escape to do my work experience from school, I loved it and was lucky enough to get offered a Saturday job. I worked Saturday’s and holidays until I left school then continued to do a 2 year apprenticeship coming away with a NVQ level 2. at burton college. I entered into the competitions that took place each year coming first one year and second the next doing creative hair up styles. I now work as a qualified stylist and I’m working hard to build my client base in both escape and moda. I have been very fortunate to work with celebrity’s over the years on photo shoots and red carpet events.
I have been on numerous training courses to constantly improve myself and salon group award evenings and events across the region consisting of colouring, cutting and styling women’s hair with ghd, Loreal and many more, now I am in the process of training to do men’s hair.
Hi I'm Emma,
I've been part of the escape team for many years and worked alongside Simon and Lisa for a longtime before that. With over 20 years of hairdressing experience I trained up at the tender age of 15 getting my NVQ level 2 then shortly followed by my level 3 in customer care. I also did many advanced training courses including a Jingles cutting course, ghd cutting courses and a Loreal colour diploma. I also worked with Lisa on a photo shoot for "The British Hairdressing Awards".
